Oceans 8 Plus Take Over

Every now and then, there is a moment when great fashion and storytelling meet to form a perfect colab. We’ve seen it in Sex and the City, The Devil Wears Prada, Girlfriends, heck even 101 Dalmatians. Cruella anyone? So when I saw the trailer for Oceans 8, namely the style of Debbie Ocean, I knew that not only would this be a kick ass girl-power movie, but the fashion would be fierce!

I was inspired and I wasn’t going to sit this one out; nope. Cue “I’m Coming Out”!  Check out my plus size remix of Sandra Bullock’s character Debbie Ocean,  courtesy of Astra Signature, Torrid and Roaman’s.

Let’s break down Debbie Oceans timeless boss babe style.

Whips our Bad Bitch Handbook

Lets see:  Leather pants. Check.

                 Black body suit. Check

                 Fur coat. Check.

                 Fabulous heels to stomp the

                 patriarchy. Check.

My remix (don’t mind the geeky bag)

First the leather. Nothing makes me feel more empowered than leather and these Paperbag leather pants from Astra Signature are the bomb. I admit I was worried about wearing them because I’m short and well, round, but I decided to take the risk and go for it. Turns out they were perfect and so comfortable, without being hot like some leather pieces can be. (Style note: thes pants run a little big, so be sure to size down). they have a highwaist rise and comes with it’s own belt, and ends right at the ankle with string details on each cuff. I paired it with the Essential Bodysuit also courtesy of Astra Signature. The fitted bodysuit was the perfect complement to the slacked leather pants, creating a great silhouette.

Next, every boss needs a fur and even better, a blush pink fur coat! On a breezy 65 degree NYC day this Faux Fur Jacket from Roaman’s is a real show stopper  (the pink sold out, but black is still available). Aside from being, well beautiful, it’s super warm without being overly hot. It has a hook-n-eye closure and look great open or closed. Note, people with stare so be sure to strike a pose.

What, I always ride the subway like this.

Finally, no outfit is complete without a great pair of shoes and these Black Caged Heeled Sandals from Torrid were made for walking. Because of their 3.5  stacked heel, it was very easy to run up and down NYC with crying in pain. These shoes are true Wide Width, so the level of comfort is amazing. They zip in the back, but you can undo the laces for an even more comfortable fit.

Don’t mess with us. Check out the beautiful Ashby Vose

All in all the perfect outfit for planning heist or just a night out with the girls, your call.

Blogger Boo Staycation! part 2

Hi Dolls,

I’m back and it’s time to talk about part 2 of my NYC Staycation! After an amazing day with my boos: Nanthale, Marlena, Fabiola, Brooke and Marcy. I couldn’t wait to start day 2……not. I’ll be honest I’m not a morning person, but the promise of a delicious brunch was enough to make this zombie rise out of bed. So where is the best spot for brunch in NYC, the brunch capital? A place so magical it’s modeled after one of most iconic storybooks ever. None other than Alice’s Tea Cup. This place is amazing. Nestled in the heart of the city, you’ll be transported to the Mad Hatter’s tea party.

The Menu

I order the Scones Benedict my favorite brunch go to, while Marlena ordered the Jabberwocky for the table. What’s a Jabberwocky? Well it’s a mystical beast….oh you meant on the menu. Well, the ATC’s Jabberwocky is a 3 tier tea service tower filled with scones, sandwiches and pastries, serves with 3 pots of tea. All unlimited, so bring your stomach. By the way the have a huge selection of teas and it can be overwhelming. Luckily, the staff is very friendly and helpful. Confession I didn’t know what a scone was, but after trying the buttermilk scone; lets just say I wanted to open it up and lay in the middle while dream sweet warm dreams. All in all I highly recommend taking a trip down the rabbit hole with Alice’s Tea Cup.

I feel you Marlena, the Jabberwocky looks amazing!

Indian Chai tea for the win!

Now the rules of a Sunday NY brunch with blogger boos, requires that you must where your Slayday best. Of course we had to go with Eloquii, because who else is there?

Stopping traffic.

My boos are better than yours!

I’m wore a printed one shoulder dress with a side slit, perfect for a mad tea party or any party for that matter. I’ll admit I was very nervous about this dress, because the print is so bold. I’m a plus size woman, so I know the “rules” and they clearly state no bold prints. Luckily for us Eloquii could give two hoots about so called fashion rules, opting instead to dress plus bodies in patterns and bold for the gawds. This dress in your face, no hiding and that’s exactly what’s magical about it.

When you wear this dress bring your confidence because it’s a show stopper! More than anything it’s a very comfortable scuba material was great for running around the city. I styled it simply with a single bracelet and ankle strap heels from Forever 21 ( sold out but similar). I let the dress do the work.

Spa babes

After a rather satisfying meal we made our way to Premier 57 spa, a for some much needed pampering. This place is as close to heaven as you can humanly get. Let me break this down for you: 6 different sauna, a water lounge, hydrotherapy pods, aqua bar and a cafe bistro.

The aqua bar with hydrotherapy pods.

My favorite feature besides the hot tubes was the sauna valley, particularly the Gold sauna. You heard me, a gold sauna 10 karat in fact. It’s supposed to be good for you and have benefits, blah, blah, it’s GOLD! You had me at gold.

Bathed in Gold

The robes were so comfy.

I’ve never been to a spa before so I wasn’t sure what to wear honestly, so I opted for this amazing Mastermind Kaleidoscope underwire swimsuit from Swimsuits For All. This was a bold move for me as I was nervous about the cut outs, but I was really comfortable in it and the underwire kept things firmly in place.

Take notice of the watch on my hand, that is your access pass to all things in the spa. You can turn on the jets and even order a drink with it (you’ll be billed later).

Blogger boos in enjoying the hydrotherapy pods.

Did I mention they had a bar?

This was the perfect way to end the day, I almost cried when it was time to leave. I’ve told myself I will be back at least once a month, because I deserve this! Premier 57 has not seen the last of me.

So what did I learn? Staycations are fun, scones are delicious, fashion rules should be broken, pamper yourself with gold and always cherish your friends. That’s all for now dolls, bye!

When you see the sandwich you want.

But seriously, try the buttermilk scones!

Girl Staycation Weekend! Day 1

Hi Dolls,

It’s been a while (sorry new blogger). I’ve been really busy working full time trying to build an art career, being a wifey, watching Netflix, breathing and trying to take over the world. It can be pretty stressful, so I’ve been needing some time with my girls. A nice trip, like the one in the movie Girls Trip, but just on one small little detail. See the way my bank account works, well ain’t nobody got money or time for that. Queue Nanthale, my friend who decided we should have a girls trip, a NYC staycation – a vacation where you stay your ass at home. Because honestly there’s no where better than NYC. Excited? Wanna hear about how it went? No? Well I’ll tell you anyway, here we go Staycation part 1.

Disclaimer: This a sponsored post; clothes and tour tickets were gifted for feature, but all opinions are my own.

How does one enjoy a staycation? Great question, doll. Food, Fashion, Friends and Fun (in that order). First let’s talk about the first event of the day a fun and educational: The Badass Bitches Tour by Museum Hack.  Before we get into that let me introduce my girls: Marlena (bigcitycurvygirlthinwallet), Brooke (Madame Finehouse), Marcy (Fearlessly Just Me), Nantale ( N.E.C. Style) and Fabiola (Fabiola Michelle). My girls joined me during the Badass Bitches Tour (hereon known as BABS) to bring down the patriarchy.

Serious learning going on here. Look at how concerned I am.

Our tour guide Sara…..yes, you’re reading that right.

The BABS tour takes a “normal” museum tour at the MET and turns it on it’s head. The theme is Feminism and the lack of female artist in the museum. Spoiler alert- there ain’t that many. On this tour you be taken on a scavenger hunt to find….well I won’t give it away, but be burning down glass ceilings. 5 stars, the best time you’ll have looking at paintings of dead folks by other dead folks, I guarantee.

Fullbeauty Style

So what does one wear to a Badass Bitch Tour? Easy you wear looks by Woman Within’s Chelsea Studio via The theme was comfy, casual and cute (Why the side eye Marlena? This is my casual). I choose a lovely navy blue sleeveless maxi and paired it with a patterned headwrap  with a  simple kimono (sold out but similar) for a perfect boho look. The best thing about the look is it can be dressed up or down depending on how you style.

A couple of Badass Bitches

After leaving the Met, we decided to end the day with what inspired it all the weekend – the “Girl’s Trip” movie.  Off to IPC Theaters we went for the “Ultimate Night Out” at iPic theaters. iPic is a unique dine-in movie experience located in Fulton Market. There you can order from a full dining menu and bar with amazing drinks, this is a grown folks only type vibe. It was the perfect way to end the day. Stay turned for part 2 coming soon!

Hello Kitty In The City, featuring Torrid!

Jonquel Art in Hello Kitty x Torrid

Hi Dolls,

If you know anything about me or if you’ve never heard of me before (do you live under a rock?), here is one fact you should know …..okay make that two facts, but whose counting. I’m a huge geek and I love all things cute! I mean it, I’m a true anime, comic book fangirl (more on that in a later post), so imagine how I felt when I found out Torrid, the brand of all things awesome (pretty sure that’s their tagline?) teamed up with the cult of cute herself Hello Kitty. The Torrid x Hello Kitty collection has everything you need to express your fun playful side in a fashion forward on trend way. I’m featuring three items from the collection: The Hello Kitty button-back top, bow sleeve top and, my fav, the border print swing skirt. I styled these pieces in three distinct ways: Sweet, Sassy and Street!

Jonquel Art in Hello Kitty x Torrid

Up first, the Sweet! I paired this adorable Border Print mint green swing skirt is to die for. The bow embellishment on the tummy is not only cute, but is perfect for smoothing in that area. Hello Kitty herself graces the border of the skirt in her very own city scene (get it girl). This piece is perfect to bring out the flirty side of you and is a true attention grabber. Its light weight, the perfect length even on a shorty like me and did I mention the best part? It Has Pockets!!!!

The City Graphics

Next let’s take to the Streets!  The Hello Kitty Bow Sleeve Tee is street-chic meets unicorns on a New York subway. The soft charcoal gray knit features a scoop neck and Hello Kitty Graphic on the front. I paired with my favorite pair of Ashley Stewart distressed jeans (sold out but similar here), which are on trend…okay I really paired with these because they look like a cat shredded them. To finish the theme I brought out one of my favorite novelty bags, The Milk.

And finally, the Sassy Hey Kitty Kat! This may be my favorite look. I’m wearing the Button Back Top from earlier, but I styled completely different, proof you can get more than one vibe out of a great piece if you style it right. I’ve paired it with distressed black leggings, again from Ashley Stewart, they too look like a cat took to them (similar here) and sexy little puff ball heels.  The mint green top features a Peter Pan printed bow collar and kitty head buttons on the back. This is a head turner look people. Head. Turner. And to answer the question I’m sure you’ve been dying to ask….yes, those are kitty ears on my head. Until next time dolls!
